Water-Chaos-Energy-Flow Group
Designed and created by Nicholas Laracuente, Xiauqian He, Suke Yao, Latrelle Bright, Jawad Hassad, and Xiuting Wu, their project strives to demonstrate chaos, flow, and turbulence within this installation. By using water as their primary medium, it is able to convey the three principles of chaos, which include sensitivity to the initial conditions, that an object is able to connect with all of the “points” in a given area, and that at any point in time an object will arbitrarily come close to a point many different times. The project also hopes to convey the centrality of water to all of our lives, and the necessity of slowing the process of Global Warming and its effects on water and the larger environment.
Mechanics Group
The Mechanics group first project shows through an emergent network of metal beads how to conduct electricity across a voltage gap. Their second project, which focuses on the mechanics on a pulley, demonstrates how a pulley makes tasks easier through a structure designed to imitate “Rapunzel’s Hair.” Their project’s also hope to convey the importance and convenience of these day-to-day structures.
Universe Group
For the Universe, each member of the group wrote a piece describing a various physics topic, such as the universe, gravitational waves, and particle physics. Their educational website incorporates art showcasing quantum equations, as well conveying a variety of physics concepts. Through this website they hope to teach physics concepts in an artistic and engaging manner.
Quantum Group
Designed and created by Taylor Sabatini, Brian, Elias, and Grace, this project strives to show double exposure using images of cats to represent the famous Schrodinger’s Cat. In addition, they designed a structure that uses lasers to create a diffraction pattern using human and cat hair. These projects hope to show various quantum physics concepts in an offshoot of Schrodinger’s Cat, as well as how diffraction operates.
